Monolithic software is doomed to turn into a legacy system sooner or later, becoming a nightmare to change and run.
Microservices are how to avoid this fate.
That’s why big systems like Amazon, Netflix, Paypal, Uber and eBay are built on microservices instead of monolithic software.
The challenge that prevents most companies to switch to microservice architecture is: how to run and maintain a large number of microservices without going crazy.
This is where our own core product – CORESHIP – comes in: It automates 100% of microservice maintenance.
It’s our main asset and our secret weapon that makes us so much more productive.
We want to make sure everybody here at 5G can rely on the skill and experience of everybody else („been there, done that“ people).
Even more important than skill is the right attitude.
We put great effort in creating a generous, mentoring environment where people can grow.
Senior people are comfortable to say when they are up to the tasks and when they need support.
We enjoy going for lunch together and an after-work drink (ah well, at least in the good old times and hopefully again soon).

But to be frank, we’re not going to be your preferred party-people gang. If you’re looking for company yoga classes or fête blanches – keep on looking. That’s just not us.

Of course, every company founder starts with the aim to create high-quality software.
But as an experienced developer you already know it’s not that easy:
None of these are new or unheard of. Most people in software development know it’s the right thing to do.
Still, given a realistic market, customer and recruiting constraints it’s hard to do.
Some might even say, impossible.
We still wanted to do it and started 5G five years ago.
So far, we’ve stayed true to all those principles and we intend to keep it this way.

If you develop software according to our high quality standards this is normally not an issue and we have almost no production incidents to deal with. So far our devs can sleep through during the night.
We want to work and bond as a team and believe that remote work can never fully replace personal interaction. We actually enjoy our time together at the office and we are looking forward to meet our colleagues in person – not only to increase efficiency but also to enjoy lunch together and have fun playing table soccer.
We do not offer predefined relocation packages but provide support based on the individual situation. Support will be of financial (cost for flights, moving company etc.) and organizational nature (finding the right apartment, dealing with permits etc.).
The more you know the better – but some of our best people today came from a completely different technical background. Most important is your willingness to learn and excitement about innovative, cool technologies.
We do not have dedicated dev ops, but sometimes our customers decide to run our software with their own devops team.
